Welcome!

I am a first-year PhD student in the Department of Mathematics at McGill University. I am doing number theory under Jayce Getz. See my research page for more information, or you can read my math blog where I try to explain some math about once a month. Also I post some news links and other random stuff on Twitter, which is displayed in the widget to the right.

Current Activities

This term I am working on my research and continuing my reading of Weibel's "Introduction to Homological Algebra". I am also a TA for MATH141, a.k.a. Calculus I.

About Me

Recommended Reading, Nonmathematical

For my very few mathematical recommendations go to my math page. These books I'd probably give five stars if I had time to review them on Amazon:

  • Herbert, Dune: Science fiction novel.
  • Ray Bradbury, Death is a Lonely Business: A novel, and one of the best examples of Bradbury's metaphor.
  • Asimov, Foundation (Trilogy): Science-fiction novel.
  • Suzuki, Not Always So: Short lectures on the essence of Zen Buddhism.
  • Mathieu Ricard, Happiness: A synthesis of Eastern and Western perspectives on Buddhism.
